I am a tattoo artist working at Forged Tattoo, located in Pigeon Forge, TN; at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I started my apprenticeship right after graduating high school, and have been tattooing full time since I was just 19 years old. A few years later, now 25, I have won convention trophies in 2014 and 2015. Working in a tourist town makes it hard to tattoo what I want, and also makes it difficult to advance my desired style of tattooing. When tourists come in, they look for flash art, or usually want some tattoo online that has been done over and over again. Over the years, I have finally built a solid, open minded, clientele. My clients let me explore techniques, styles, and more than just your basic infinity symbol. Now, I tattoo mostly custom pieces. It’s super humbling and an honor that people totally trust my ideas. I would say my style leans more toward neo-traditionalism, or an illustrative style. I love doing tattooing of anything found in nature, plants, and animals. I think most of my inspiration comes from the environment surrounding me. I can literally walk out on the porch of the studio and see the tallest mountain in the Eastern U.S. The Great Smoky Mountains have so many native plants and animals that are such a pleasure to draw, and I try to incorporate these aspects into pieces for my local clientele. I think one of my big dreams is to travel, and guest spot in different areas of the U.S. I am married, with two small children, so for now I work at local tattoo conventions once or twice a year that aren’t too far from home. All in all, I love my job and working in a beautiful place, doing what I am passionate about.
