So Johnathon, tell us a little about yourself, and your art.

I have always had the facility to draw. I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t drawing or painting. In this sense, art has always been a natural part of my existence.

As an artist, has your work always been limited to the canvas or have you explored any other forms of artistic expression?

I was a tattooist for about three years but it never gave me the pleasure or enjoyment as creating the fantasies of others. That’s what I do, I bring people’s dreams and ideas of their own being or how they perceive themselves to life.

Tell us a little about your current style?

I’ve always enjoyed working with humans and animal figures. I love the human figure and I want to draw/paint them as beautifully as I can. I am pulled into what I can do with a figure and how well I can do it, how close to perfection I can come. And by “perfection” I don’t mean how true to life but rather, how true to a personal mental image or vision.

I strive not only to copy life but also in a sense to enhance it. One can improve on the shape and proportions of a figure and on the fluidity in a painting but one can also,as an artist, utterly enjoy a figure on its own terms, even if it’s imperfect by contemporary fashion. Imperfections are beautiful to me!

What do you like to do when you’re not drawing or painting?

When I’m not doing art in enjoying my family. Watching my children grow. There are so many amazing artists out there and I have a negative look on my own image so I wouldn’t want to be recreated. That’s something I feel I need to overcome.

Finish this sentence: If I could rule the world for a day I would…

If I could rule the world for a day I would make it mandatory to encourage and compliment one another.
